Creator and project manager: what wearing both hats changes

5 min read · September 9, 2026 · @solennstories

Media agency in Montreal, Parisian palace hotel, freelance work, hotel group: how that path shapes the way I create content.

A career seen from both sides of the table

Two years in a media agency in Montreal taught me how to read a performance dashboard. Three years in communications for a Parisian palace hotel taught me image standards. Today, as communications and marketing project manager for a hotel group, I run campaigns from the other side of the table.

What changes when a brand briefs me

In practice, when a brand briefs me, I already know what its team expects: a measurable objective, deadlines that hold, deliverables they can actually use and clear usage rights. That saves a lot of back and forth.

Creation designed as a campaign

This double view also changes my creative work: I think in campaigns, not in isolated posts. A collaboration means formats that can be adapted, a story that progresses and something useful left for the brand after the campaign ends.

An organisation that keeps the pace sustainable

And on the organisation side, I stopped mixing the two energies: production in the morning, coordination in the afternoon. That is what makes the pace sustainable.

Frequently asked questions

What is Solenn Cousin's career in digital marketing?

Solenn Cousin spent two years at a media agency in Montreal and three years in communications for a Parisian palace hotel, then worked as a freelance consultant. Today she is communications and marketing project manager for a French hotel group and has been a content creator as @solennstories for 3 years.

Why does being both a project manager and a creator help brands?

Being both a project manager and a creator means knowing both sides of a collaboration: when a brand briefs Solenn, she already knows what its team expects (a measurable objective, deadlines that hold, usable deliverables, clear rights), which saves a lot of back and forth.

How does this dual experience change the way she creates?

This dual experience means thinking in campaigns rather than isolated posts: a collaboration means formats that can be adapted, a story that progresses and something useful left for the brand after the campaign ends.

How does Solenn Cousin organise her days between her two jobs?

Solenn Cousin no longer mixes the two energies: content production in the morning, project coordination in the afternoon. This separation of time blocks is what makes the pace sustainable.
